Fishing

There are many great places to fish along the river Charente. Civray boasts fine trout fishing along the river as it runs through the beautiful Parc Natual area. A daily fishing pass can be obtained from the local bar in Civray. There are many small wooden fishing jetty’s dotted around in the best places along the riverbank.

 

Parc Natural

This fantastic open space and wooded park area is ideal for long walks, jogging and cycling. It is a perfect place for a family picnic with benches and tables and a large playing area for the children with climbing frame, swings, etc. There is also a wonderful restaurant/café where you can eat in or out or just buy ice creams! You can follow the ‘fox trail’ and keep fit as there are around ten different ‘fitness stops’ along the way including wooden ‘monkey bars’, high jumps, push-ups, pull-ups, jumping and balancing equipment for use by everyone. The park is immaculately maintained; expect to see much wildlife along the riverbanks including giant frogs! Having been there many times it’s a place for fun and activity or peaceful contemplation and is never crowded.

 

Canoeing and Kayaking

Cycling

There many wonderful cycle rides in and around Champagne Lureau. Please see the examples of cycle and walking trails for the beginner or keen enthusiast at the Civray Office de Tourisme

 

Motor Sports

Fo those of you with "the need for speed" nearby is the Val de Vienne motor circuit. This 3.7km track, considered one of the best in France, has regular events and track days. Their website.
