After many years of ‘holidaying’ in France, always wishing we lived here, we decided to buy our own small holiday home in the tiny rural village of Riblaire and owned this property for nearly five years before we ventured on to something larger.

 

My sister and her family moved to France around 5 years ago and it almost seemed as though they had stolen our dream! My parents then decided that they too would love to move and took the brave decision to move here two years ago. They have never regretted their decision and are happier now than they ever were in their Norfolk home.

 

We were lucky enough to sell our tiny holiday home and house in England at the same time and just before the great property price crash! We then rented a house for a year in England and went on many property hunts in and around the Vienne area of France. We wanted a home in France where we could live comfortably and just maybe run a bed and breakfast! We were under no illusions as to how difficult this would be, both in starting up and financially.

After looking at many properties, some needing complete renovation but with land and fantastic views and others smaller not needing so much work we came across our new home! The previous owners were an English couple who had done a lot of work on the place but were keen to move on to their barn conversion. Our home is in the tiny village of Champagne Lureau about 10 minutes from the ancient market town of Civray.

We will extend a warm and friendly welcome to our home – whether property hunting yourself or just passing through, we would hope to be of assistance wherever possible, we can even offer a lift into Civray and pick you up again should you fancy a meal out and drink or two in town! We will also keep you informed of all events, brocantes, organized walks, etc in the area.
